People’s Choice of Favourite Film Pitch Lauded at This Year’s AFM
23rd August 2010

Father John, an "adventure spy drama" that won the first
Favourite Film Pitch competition, will be screened at this year's
American Film Market (AFM) during 3-10 November at Santa Monica,
Hollywood.
Created by up-and-coming filmmaker David Minnihan, the film will
profit from the long-established AFM's experience of hosting films
from more than 30 countries, screening more than 100 world
premieres, and welcoming delegates from 400-plus production and
distribution companies.
Additionally, Minnihan has won free air fares and full access for
two people to the event, hotel accommodation; and will receive
specially arranged AFM meetings with high-profile producers and
distributors.
The Favourite Film Pitch contest was jointly launched late last
year by the AFM, which is organised by the US-based Independent
Film and Television Alliance, and the People's Choice Awards, the
US movie industry's prize-giving ceremony based on the public's
vote.
Normally asked to pick their favourite hit movies, the voters were
for the first time also invited to choose the best pitch made for a
movie. Their choice, made online, was based on the five finalists
selected by industry experts.
